western swing band in Southern Oregon called The Rogue River Boys. He loved to tell old stories, there was one he'd
tell about playing around Portland - pre jukebox days - when he'd sit in a basket and play the current hits of the day for
the local lumberjacks. Papa won many awards for fiddling; 2nd place in his division at the National Fiddle Contest in
Weiser, Idaho two years in a row, several times the Oregon State Champion fiddler. His song, "Straw Broom Boogie"
was a hit in Denmark in the 1950's. He lived life to the fullest and continued playing fiddle at numerous venues around
Portland until his passing. He is greatly missed.
